The Core Reasons for Using Solenoid Valves in LiBr Absorption Chiller

1. Precise, fast and reliable control of critical flow paths for solution and refrigerant water.

Solution pump start/stop control: When a solution pump stops running (e.g. at partial load, standby or shutdown), the path for the concentrated solution flowing from the generator to the absorber needs to be cut off immediately. Otherwise, due to gravity or pressure difference, the concentrated solution will continue to flow into the absorber, diluting the solution in the absorber, destroying the vacuum balance and concentration gradient of the unit, leading to a drop in refrigeration capacity or even unable to restart. The solenoid valve can instantly respond to the stop signal and close the solution path.

Anti-freezing control of refrigerant water: In low-temperature environment (especially when the ambient temperature is lower than the freezing point of the refrigerant water in the evaporator), if the chilled water pump stops circulating due to malfunction or shutdown, the chilled water in the evaporator tube stops flowing, and the refrigerant water in the evaporator will continue to evaporate and absorb heat, resulting in a drastic drop of the temperature to below freezing point, and there is a risk of freezing and cracking the evaporator tube bundle. Installed in the pump outlet or key pipeline solenoid valve, can be detected in the pump stops or water temperature is too low when the rapid closure, cut off the flow of chilled water into the evaporator, to prevent further evaporation of refrigerant water in the evaporator to cool down and freeze.

2. Realize highly automated operation and safety interlock protection.

In the event of failure (such as insufficient chilled water flow, solution pump failure, over-temperature, over-pressure, etc.), the control system will issue an emergency shutdown signal, the solenoid valve can quickly cut off the key flow paths (such as concentrated solution circuit, chilled water circuit, steam/hot water/gas circuit, etc.), to prevent the expansion of the accident, to protect the core components of the unit (such as anti-freezing of the evaporator to prevent the crystallization of the solution, etc.)

3. Maintaining the sealing of the ultra-high vacuum environment inside the unit.

The inside of the LiBr absorption unit is a highly vacuum environment. The solenoid valve (especially the solenoid valve with special sealing form, such as bellows sealing) can provide excellent sealing performance in the closed state, effectively preventing air leakage into the interior of the unit.
