The Role of Cooling Water in the Absorber

1. Removing the Absorption Heat
When the concentrated solution is sprayed inside the absorber, it vigorously absorbs the refrigerant vapor from the evaporator. This process releases a significant amount of heat, known as "heat of absorption." If this heat is not removed promptly, the temperature of the solution will rise rapidly, and its ability to absorb refrigerant vapor will sharply decline, much like a saturated sponge unable to take in more moisture. This low-pressure environment, combined with the absorption capacity of the solution, creates a continuous driving force for the refrigerant vapor to flow from the evaporator to the absorber.

Therefore, although cooling water does not directly participate in refrigeration, it indirectly determines the cooling efficiency and stability of the unit by cooling the absorber.
