General introduction
Wuhan Iron and Steel Group Company, built from 1955, put into operation on September 13, 1958, is the first super large iron and steel conglomerate built after the founding of People’s Republic of China. It is an important state-owned backbone enterprise under the direct management of the Central Government and SASAC of The State Council. The plant is located in the eastern suburbs of Wuhan, Hubei Province, on the south bank of the Yangtze River, covering an area of 21.17 square kilometers. There are mountain mining, coking, iron, steel, steel rolling and logistics, supporting public auxiliary facilities and a set of advanced steel production technology in the plant. After the joint reorganization of Ezhou Steel, Liuzhou Steel and Kungang, it has become a large enterprise group with a production scale of nearly 40 million tons and become the fourth in the world steel industry.
